Overview

Slovenia's geodiversity extends underground, made of soluble rocks like limestone and dolomite. Over millions of years, water erosion has shaped them into a complex network of passages, chambers, and sinkholes. Our caving experiences in Mount Kanin offer an in-depth exploration of these natural wonders, featuring fossilized shells and exploring confined cave tunnels. With climbing, occasional crawling, and being secluded, it differs significantly from typical visits to the Škocjan and Postojna caves.

FAQ

For caving activities, we suggest wearing old clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty, damaged, or ripped.

Cave temperatures range from 8°C in the spring to 15°C in the summer. Given the substantial temperature difference between the inside and outside of the cave, we recommend bringing a sweater and warmer pants in the spring. In the summer, light pants and a long-sleeve top or windbreaker jacket are advisable.

If you tend to perspire heavily, consider a fast-drying base layer or an extra t-shirt to change into before entering the cave, not to be cold in wet clothes.
